1. Who we are and what these Terms cover
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Yersal, a sole proprietorship (eenmanszaak) registered in the Netherlands and owned by Mourad Blokpoel, trading as Unite Gay Network ("UGN", "we", "us"). Chamber of Commerce (KvK): 80433391. VAT: NL003439927B26.
These Terms apply to your use of unite.gay, network.unite.gay, support.unite.gay, the UGN Android app and our related services (together, the "Services"). By creating an account or using the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.
These Terms are written in English. Translated versions may be offered for convenience; if they differ, the English version applies.
2. Who can join
UGN is for men aged 18 or older who are gay or bisexual. Trans men who are gay or bisexual are included and welcome.
You must be at least 18 years old to use the Services. We ask for your date of birth when you sign up. We may ask you to confirm your age, and we remove accounts of people under 18 as soon as we become aware of them.
By registering, you confirm that the information you give us is accurate and up to date.
3. Free membership and Verified Membership
Joining Unite Gay Network is free. All core features, including discussions, groups, chats and events, are available at no cost.
You can also choose a paid Verified Membership. It lets you support UGN and show other members that you are a real person. Verified Membership includes a verified badge on your profile.
What "verified" means. To get the badge, you complete an identity check with our verification partner, Veriff. Veriff checks a government ID and may ask you for a selfie or a short face check to confirm that the ID belongs to you. The check is meant to confirm that you are a real person and at least 18. We do not receive a copy of your ID; we only receive the result of the check. How your data is handled during the check is explained in our Privacy Policy.
What the badge does not mean. The verified badge only confirms that the account belongs to a real, adult person who passed the identity check. It does not guarantee that person's character, intentions or behaviour, or the other details on their profile, and it does not mean UGN endorses them. Always follow the safety tips in section 9 when you talk to or meet other members, whether they are verified or not.
Prices. Current prices are shown on our Membership page. All prices include 21% Dutch VAT, and the price you pay is shown before you confirm your order.
Payment and renewal. You pay in advance for your chosen period. Payments are handled by Wix and its payment providers. Your membership renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time, including straight after subscribing, and we will remind you before an annual membership renews. We will tell you at least 30 days in advance about any price change, and you can cancel before it applies.
Cancelling. You can cancel online in your account settings on network.unite.gay, by emailing support@unite.gay, or via unite.gay/contact. Your Verified Membership and badge stay active until the end of the period you have paid for.
Your 14-day right of withdrawal. If you are a consumer, you can withdraw from your Verified Membership within 14 days after purchase without giving a reason, in your account settings, by emailing support@unite.gay or via unite.gay/contact. We refund your payment within 14 days using the same payment method. If you asked us to start your membership straight away and your identity check was completed within those 14 days, we may deduct a proportional amount for the days you used.
When the badge ends. The badge is removed when your Verified Membership ends or is cancelled, when you delete your account, or if we find that your verification was obtained with false or someone else's documents. If you break these Terms, we may remove the badge or suspend your Verified Membership, and we will tell you why and how you can object. If we end your membership for reasons other than a breach by you, we refund the unused part of your payment.
4. Your account
Keep your login details private. You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us straight away at support@unite.gay if you think someone else has accessed it.
Your account is personal. Do not share your login details or let others use your account. If we find an account is shared, we may suspend or close it as described in section 10.
You can use a display name instead of your real name.
5. Rules and prohibited content
UGN exists to build a respectful community for gay and bisexual men. Treat other members with respect and follow the law that applies to you.
You may not:
- share, screenshot or reveal another member's identity, photos, messages or sexual orientation outside the network without their consent (outing and doxxing);
- post or share any sexual content involving anyone under 18 (we report this to the authorities);
- share intimate images of anyone without their consent;
- threaten, blackmail or extort anyone;
- harass, bully or discriminate against anyone, or post hate speech;
- post nudity or explicit sexual content anywhere on UGN;
- offer or sell drugs, weapons or sexual services;
- post terrorist or violent extremist content;
- commit fraud, impersonate others or misrepresent who you are;
- phish for or collect other members' personal information;
- spam, advertise or use the Services for commercial purposes without our permission;
- upload viruses, malware or harmful code, or try to access other accounts or our systems without permission;
- misuse the platform's features in ways that disrupt other members.
6. Reporting content and moderation
Anyone, including people without an account, can report content they believe is illegal or breaks these Terms. Use the report button in the network, or email support@unite.gay with a link to the content, an explanation and, if you wish, your name and email.
We review reports carefully and without undue delay, and we let you know our decision. If we remove your content or restrict your account, we tell you why and how you can object, unless the law prevents this or doing so would put others at risk. Where we suspect a criminal offence that threatens someone's life or safety, we inform the authorities.

7. Your content
You keep ownership of what you post. You give us a non-exclusive, free licence to host, store, display and adapt your content only as needed to run the network. We will never use your profile, photos or messages in advertising or public promotion without your separate permission.
This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies other members have legitimately received (for example in chats) and backups that are deleted within a limited period.
You are responsible for the content you post. Do not copy or reuse other people's content without permission.
8. Our content and brand
The UGN name, logo and brand design belong to us. Please do not use them without our written permission.
Our sites are built with Wix and use some third-party assets, such as stock photos from Pexels and Unsplash and licensed fonts, under their own licences. We do not claim ownership of those assets.
If you believe content on UGN infringes your rights, report it as described in section 6.
9. Your safety
Use a display name and a photo that does not identify you if you are not out. Be careful about sharing your phone number, address or workplace. If you meet someone from the network, meet in a public place, tell a friend where you are going and arrange your own transport. Watch out for fake profiles and blackmail attempts; never send money or intimate images to people you have not met. In some countries same-sex relationships are illegal or dangerous, so think carefully about what you share and which groups you join. Report suspicious behaviour to us straight away.
10. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms or the law, if the law requires it, or if we stop offering the Services (with at least 30 days' notice in that case). We will tell you the reasons and how you can object, unless the law prevents this or doing so would endanger others. If you paid for Verified Membership and your account is closed for reasons other than your breach, we refund the unused part.
You can delete your account at any time in your account settings on network.unite.gay, or by contacting support@unite.gay or unite.gay/contact.
11. Privacy
How we process your personal data is explained in our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy. Where we rely on your consent, for example for sensitive data about your sexual orientation, we ask for it separately.
12. Availability and liability
We do our best to keep UGN available and safe, but we cannot guarantee that the Services will always work without interruption or errors. We are not responsible for content posted by other members or for third-party services linked from UGN.
Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for damage caused by our intent or gross negligence, for death or personal injury, or any other liability that cannot be limited under Dutch law, and nothing limits your mandatory rights as a consumer.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms when our Services or the law change. We will notify you by email and in the network at least 30 days before significant changes take effect, unless a change is required sooner by law or for security. If you do not agree, you can delete your account, and cancel any Verified Membership with a refund of the unused period, before that date.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by Dutch law. If you are a consumer living in the EU, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country, and you may bring a claim in the courts of your country of residence. Otherwise, disputes will be handled by the competent court in the Netherlands.
If any part of these Terms is invalid, the rest remains in force.
